How to Get Booked On Morning TV Talk Shows

If you've ever tried to feed or toilet-train a child--or you know someone who is--you should have been tuned recently to the "Today Show".

That's when Dr. T. Berry Brazelton was featured in a two-part series to promote each of his new books FEEDING YOUR CHILD: THE BRAZELTON WAY and TOILET TRAINING YOUR CHILD: THE BRAZELTON WAY.

"What?" you're asking. "He was on the show not just once, but twice?"

No. Actually, he will have appeared five times. He did a three-part series a year ago when his first three books, the Brazelton Way on Sleep, Discipline, and Calming Your Fussy Baby were released.

tvtalkshowstranscdPublicist Lissa Warren says it wasn't difficult to convince the producer to book the author for a three-part segment, or for the two shows this week.

"I arranged for a childcare center here in Boston (where the author lives) to gather together local parents and have Berry lead them in a discussion about the issues he wrote about in his books," Lissa said. "Then the kids were brought in and they shot footage of Berry holding babies and playing on the floor with the toddlers. It made great footage for the show--footage they were able to weave into his in-studio appearances. No doubt it got us the multiple bookings."

Incidentally, Berry later went on CNN's "American Morning" to discuss the books. They didn't mind following the "Today Show" because they know their ratings aren't as high.
